LITTLE RIVER COMMUNITY CENTER

Studio Mc+G Architecture has proposed a transformative revitalization of the Edison Little River Community Resource Center in Miami, a facility offering essential services to economically disadvantaged individuals and families. The redesign addresses the center’s fragmented layout, lack of identity, and poor natural lighting by introducing a vibrant, welcoming environment rooted in light, color, and clarity.A translucent ceiling panel system enhances the existing skylights and atrium, distributing natural light evenly throughout public areas. Colorful tile patterns help define different service zones, while soft tiled carpet supports quieter, focused workspaces. Outdoor gathering areas, a shaded performance stage, and integrated games encourage community interaction without exposing users directly to the street.Solar panels and solar ducts support sustainability goals, while visible, color-coded elements promote intuitive wayfinding and a strong sense of place for staff and visitors alike.
